RiverGIS Q&A - Recent questions Powered by Question2Answer BaldEagle Sample data - Extracting Mannings's n values for XC programming error
Dear friends,

I've tried to extract manning's n values for the cross-sections at my site of interest, however I was quite struggling with that. The RiverGis kept saying ProgrammingError('function st_line_interpolate_point(geometry, numeric) does not exist\nLINE 39: ST_Line_Interpolate_Point(inter_xs_dump.geom, 0.0000...\n ^\nHINT: No function matches the given name and argument types. You might need to add explicit type casts.\n')

Process aborted!

Therefore I've tried the same process with BaldEagle sample data but the result is just the same! The same error occuts. I am getting helpless, does anybody faced the same problem? My input polygon layer has just the same features and structure as the one in sample data.

Thanks for any kind of help!

Regards

Peter
Thu, 24 Oct 2019 15:00:10 +0000 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'startswith'
I have a River model with some tributaries. This appears to cause problems in HEC-RAS when the rest of your project is in feet. It looks like all of the (expensive) alternatives to RiverGIS have an option for converting to feet as part of the creation of an export file. I'm not finding this in RiverGIS.

You can work around the issue (once you realize it exists) by using:
HEC_RAS -> Edit -> Geometric Data Editor -> Htab Param. -> (select) -> Multiply Factor ...
Select "All Rivers", select the elevation column by clicking its label, and multiply by a factor of 3.280833.

But since RiverGIS claims to make a file ready for import to HEC-RAS, maybe it could handle this task as well? As an option of course, in case someone really does have all the rest of their elevation data in meters... Fri, 13 Jul 2018 05:57:28 +0000 Złe genrowanie punktów przekroi
Witam

W efekcie dostajemy przekrój o nierzeczywistych parametrach. Poniżej porównanie takiego przekroju oraz przekroju wykonanego za pomocą wtyczki do QGIS Profile Tool.

Czy nie należało by w związku z tym czegoś tutaj zmienić? Możliwość wyboru zagęszczenia punktów?

2. Druga sprawa. Dodawanie punktów pomiarowych do przekroju. W tym samym przekroju dodawano wybrane punkty pomiarowe. Zakres wybranych punktów określa poligon. Jak widać punkty są zmierzone szerzej niż przekrój ale nie wszystkie są potrzebne. Punkty czerwone to te same, które poprzednio wygenerował RiverGIS. Punkty żółte to pomiar geodezyjny.

Pozdrawiam

A. Sun, 12 Feb 2017 00:36:03 +0000 problem exporting sdf file in Ubuntu/Linux Dear riverGIS team,

I tried the procedure you report on your website and everything went smooth in Linux environment (Ubuntu 14.04), from the database creation (which is easier than windows) to computing cross-section elevations, however as I try to export the sdf, the created file resulted without any extension and not loadable in HEC-RAS. HEC-RAS does not seem to recognize anything. Then, I repeated the same procedure using your plugin in QGIS for Windows and magically it works fine. My idea is that the created sdf file in linux might have some problems with encoding, or perhaps some tabs placed in wrong places, I don't know, but this my experience. Unfortunately I can't paste the results here because data are not publishable yet.

Hope these feedback might help you in further releases, it's a great tool!

Thanks Mon, 06 Feb 2017 11:52:21 +0000 Has anyone tried importing cross-sections in ISIS format to HEC-RAS? After countless problems in creating the geometry I decided to simply work on a test, on a mini-section of the river-stream and see if I can successfully create the geometry and import to HEC-RAS. I have re-drawn everything to keep things simple.

Everything runs fine in RiverGIS, but the geometry for HEC-RAS is empty of any nodes when imported. I checked the XSCutlines shapefile and there is clearly a problem with the Station column which is empty. I also noticed that no EndPoint is created when running the RiverGIS tools.

I attach a zipped folder with the QGIS file and attached shapefiles/DEM:

Screenshot of the river system in QGIS:

Screenshot of the attribute table for XSCutLines:

Screenshot of the HEC-RAS problem when importing (invert # shows zero points):

Screenshot 2 of the HEC-RAS problem after importing:

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm under a tight timeline here...

Thanks,

Mix Thu, 01 Dec 2016 18:43:23 +0000 Unable to create PostGIS extension in pgAdmin Hello all,

I'm following the instructions provided on the RiverGIS website, but have been getting issues right at the start. When I try to create the PostGIS extensions from the SQL query editor, I get the following error message:

ERROR: could not open extension control file "C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/9.6/share/extension/postgis.control": No such file or directory
********** Error **********

ERROR: could not open extension control file "C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/9.6/share/extension/postgis.control": No such file or directory
SQL state: 58P01

I have tried the install on two different computers, Windows 10, and keep getting this issue. The typical situation is when starting the simulation the process freezes for hours on the "writing geometry" process at the "computing XS interpolation surfaces". My assumption is that Hec-Ras loses the position of the different XS between them when deleting the interpolated XS, I have the intuition that this is related to the georeferenced geometry built from RiverGIS, but I don't really know how and why. Has somebody ever experienced the same kind of problem?

Any help or comment would be appreciated, thanks.
Thu, 03 Nov 2016 09:08:38 +0000 Problem calculating bank stations I am running the RiverGIS tool and am receiving this error when I try to calculate bank stations.

Calculating cross-sections banks stations...

InternalError("line_locate_point: 2st arg isn't a point\n",)

Process aborted!

Do you know what is causing this.

Thanks,

JamesB

I am running PostGreSQL x64 9.6, qGIS 2.14.1, PostGIS Bundle 2.3 for PostGreSQL x64 9.6 Wed, 02 Nov 2016 00:03:45 +0000
